As you may know, we lost our first shareholder and leading advocate when Brent McLean passed away last summer. What you may not know is that Brent had been living with diabetes. Recently we became aware of a plan to honour Brent's life by raising money for the Canadian Diabetes Association. We believe this plan is something worthy of our collective memory of Brent.
Janice and I have a personal understanding of this disease since my own diagnosis in 2005. Diabetes is a disease that afflicts over three million Canadians and is a contributing factor in the deaths of more than 41,000 Canadians annually. It is very likely that you or someone you know have been touched by this disease. Although, modern therapies allow many of us with diabetes to live a full life, there is still much to be done to improve our understanding of the disease, the factors influencing the onset of the disease and the potential cures and therapies that may be applied to those of us with diabetes.
Chelsea McLean is Brent's daughter and a beautiful young woman who, among other things, is a successful rider on the Canadian Motocross circuit. For the 2011 spring season she has designed a schedule of races that will honour her father and raise money for this worthy cause. Because Brent was a friend to all of us and because of his support as a partner we are bringing you this opportunity and a challenge.
Your opportunity is to donate directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association by clicking the 'Sponsor Me' button on the bottom of Chelsea's fund raising page:
Your challenge as a member of the PetLynx team is to help Chelsea 'catch some air'. Brent never wavered from supporting PetLynx during its emergence, now we have a chance to honour him by supporting Chelsea as she raises funds for diabetes and honours her father.
Janice and I will kick off the campaign with a donation of $400. We would invite each of you to make a contribution prior to the end of March as circumstances allow. We will report the amount raised by the PetLynx team in April just before Chelsea kicks off the new Motocross season. Chelsea has set a modest goal of $4,000. Let's take it way over the top!
On behalf of Chelsea and her family we thank you in advance for your participation.
Yours sincerely,
PetLynx Corporation
