Service dogs help define 'Positive Pet Experience'

An 11-year-old Calgary boy with Down Syndrome is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his service dog from the organization Dogs With Wings. According to a Calgary Herald article, Jakob Furdal lights up around animals.

Dogs With Wings trains canines to serve as assistance dogs for Albertans living with disabilities. It costs thousands of dollars and a huge commitment from volunteers to properly train the dogs, which are then given to families for only $1. The Furdals are now committed to giving back to the organization who helped their son 'smile again' and are fundraising so another family can have the same opportunity.

This story is one of many that will help industry leaders in their quest to define a positive pet experience, an element of the Pet Experience Project being discussed during workshops at the Regional Conference tour of Canada in April.
