A.G. Lafley Returns to Lead Procter and Gamble

Procter and Gamble, announced late yesterday that Bob McDonald would retire from the company effective 30 June 2013, completing 33 years of service.

A. G. Lafley, who lead the company during a crucial decade from 2000 to 2009 returns to the helm as President, CEO and Board Chair effective immediately.  

Lafley is credited with much of the success enjoyed by the company today and he is loved by insiders and investors alike for his approach to managing the world's largest brand company.


“I wish Bob well, and thank him for his service to P and G.  I am looking forward to working with P and G’s outstanding leadership team to continue to improve the Company’s performance. I am confident that we will deliver strong innovation, productivity and growth to win with consumers, customers and shareholders”, said Lafley.
McDonald had attracted the ire of shareholders who wished to see the company make improvements more rapidly.
