Calgarians rally around animal deaths

Following the discovery of a Siberian husky and a cat who were found in a Calgary alleyway earlier this month, dead, emaciated and with their mouths taped shut, local animal lovers are hoping to change federal animal protection laws.

An organized walk to raise awareness around this incident and the issue at hand took place over the weekend and was attended by about 1,000 people including some municipal and provincial politicians.

The Calgary Humane Society has been very active in the pursuit of the person(s) responsible for the death of these animals and a campaign started to raise reward money for details on the case has exceeded $70,000.
