New Company Focuses on Adding Value to Pet Industry

Jim Dougherty, the founder of PetSmart and Petsense is forming a company with John Gibbons, Phil Cooper, and Trevor Jensen. All founding partners have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the pet industry, marketing, and sales. The company also has an advisory board that includes Bob Moran (former PetSmart CEO), Steve Marton (Chairman of Halo, Purely for Pets, former COO of Hill’s Pet Nutrition), and Christian Salaman (partner with Pillsbury’s international law firm). Pet Industry Experts LLC (PIE) has the goal “to assist inventors of truly innovative pet products that add value to the pet industry,” through offering venture capital funding, acquisition and merger guidance, sourcing, strategic planning, manufacturing, warehousing, marketing, and distribution. 

Dougherty said, “PIE has knowledge and resources acquired through over 150 combined years of experience in the pet industry. We want to use our expertise and connections to help new and existing companies be more successful. There is no better way to keep an industry vibrant than to help individuals and companies realize their potential and achieve greater success.”
