EDMONTON, March 4 /CNW/ - The Alberta Veterinary Medical Association
(ABVMA) is very pleased to announce that Dr. Annabelle Denson has been
appointed to the position of ABVMA President.
Dr. Denson was appointed as a member to the ABVMA Council representing
the Central Region in January 2008. She took over the position of
President at the Association's Annual General Meeting held in Calgary
on February 27th, 2011.
Dr. Denson is the Director of the Distributed Veterinary Learning
Community at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
(UCVM).
Annabelle graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at
the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon in 1983. She started her
veterinary career in mixed animal practice in North Battleford followed
by two years in small animal practice in New Zealand. Upon returning
home Dr. Denson joined what was then Agriculture and Agri- Food Canada
(AAFC), and worked in a variety of roles until they were down sized in
1997. Annabelle was employed by Iams pet food company as the technical
service veterinarian for Western Canada and Alaska for 7 years before
returning to practice, joining Nagel and Co. Veterinary Services, where
she developed a small animal service in Crossfield. Annabelle joined
UCVM in January 2009, and is excited to be part of the new Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine in Alberta.
Dr. Denson has served on a number of ABVMA committees including Economic Development, Companion Animal, Registration, and now the Practice Review Board. She is a council member for the Central Region.
Annabelle is married to Dr. Denis Nagel who is a large animal
practitioner and owner of Nagel and Co. Veterinary Services in
Crossfield.
