Calgary Humane Society Welcomes New ED

Calgary Humane Society (CHS) announced the appointment of Mark Takhar as the new Executive Director.

Mark arrives from the BCSPCA, where he worked since May 2003, most recently in the role of General Manager, Branch Services. As General Manager, Mark managed the day-to-day operations of the 36 branches/shelters of the BCSPCA located around the province. This included hands-on experience with the animals and the many shelter volunteers, fundraising initiatives, humane education, and extensive involvement with recruiting, training, supervising and assisting to develop the careers of the various BCSPCA branch managers
and other staff.

“With Mark’s experience in the animal welfare sector and his clear interest in and compassion for animal welfare added to an extremely amiable and enthusiastic personality, we look forward to welcoming him aboard and are confident he will be a terrific addition to our already outstanding staff” said Deanna Steblyk, Chair, CHS Board of Directors.

Mark takes up his new position as Executive Director in late July.
