I'm sorry I cannot be with you. Here in Alberta we are enjoying our first real heat wave and the Centennial edition of the Calgary Stampede. You might say, 'big horses' are keeping me away from enjoying fellowship with my colleagues at the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.
Today, I will share 10 Slides with you. The background for this presentation and a 'conversation tree' are presented here in the PetLynx InfoStream blog to assist you and colleagues who are not present:
- Building an interactive, value based, online presence for a member driven organization is one of the most strategically important things to do in this new environment. What is cloud computing?
- The 2010 Innovation Task Force Report recognized the CVMA need to capture a leading position as the Vet Value Chain creatively destructs and re-organizes with online capabilities. Is creative destruction necessary?
- Decision support applications and disease surveillance are likely to drive near term efforts to build online services for the vet value chain. Knowledge drives wellness.
- The online environment is rapidly changing the industry and value chain. 40% of Canucks have smartphones Canadians lead in online engagement
- Sometimes we don't see coming changes clearly because of the lens we use and the language we understand. Why Canadians fail to adopt online/cloud strategies.
- CVMA needs to generate value for the Veterinary Value Chain, for Government, for all Service Providers and for Animals in a way that sustains the information utility. In the age of abundance, Value will find its own level just as surely as water does.
- Sometimes questions can expose elements that should be considered in a conversation. This morning I offer you six questions for your consideration:
- What must we do?
- What will happen if we don't?
- What challenges will be encountered?
- What level of commitment will be required?
- What is the first step to take?
- What lens or language needs to be changed?
In conclusion, PetLynx has always had the vision of a collaborative industry providing for the needs of all stakeholders. Perhaps we are nearing the day when this vision becomes a reality. Thank you for your generous contribution of time and thought to an important conversation for our industry.
