Summit - Responsible Breeder Award

With too many animals born from disreputable breeding facilities, there has never been a more important time to encourage responsible breeders.

The Responsible Breeder award recognizes and individual and breeder of companion animals who demonstrates exceptional commitment of five or more years to producing, promoting and homing animals while exhibiting a high level of professionalism, commitment and responsibility.

In 2011, Cathy Prothro was recognized by the ISUAS nominating committee for this award, presented by the Ontario SPCA. A breeder of American Staffordshire Terriers for over 30 years, Prothro is also the founding president of the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Canada. Sitting on the Breeder Relations Committee (CKC), she has been instrumental in the development of the CKC Kennel Guidelines and the Breeder Accreditation Program - encouraging and promoting responsible breeding practices.
