Community Safety Minister, Madeleine Meilleur, announced yesterday that legislation for animals in Ontario will change to include licensing for zoos and aquariums and is also intended to increase scope, funding and transparency for the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The announcement culminates a collaborative process which sought input from individuals and organizations across the province. Outside observers seem to have mixed reactions to this announcement as one would expect. However, most would agree that changes have been needed and have welcomed the dialogue which is producing this result.
