Founded in 2013 with the approval of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA), Tails of Help will identify pet owners with a qualified financial need, and whose ill or injured companion animal requires essential veterinary treatment.
Regular and preventative pet healthcare was identified by Summit 2013 delegates as a dilemma to creating positive pet experiences for urban animal communities. Tails for Help is an innovative concept that will serve as an example of the opportunities available to move the industry forward.
Applications will be made by registered veterinarians on behalf of the owner, and will be assessed by strict criteria including the level of need and available funds. When applications are approved, funds will be disbursed directly to the veterinary practice.
