Jim Dougherty, founder of Petsense Inc. and PetSmart Inc., retired earlier this year. He served as a board chairman of Petsense since founding the company in 2005.
Dougherty founded PetSmart in 1986. The company has grown to become the largest pet products retailer in the U.S. with over 1,000 locations. In 2005, he assembled a seasoned group of pet industry veterans and launched Petsense.
"It has been an inspiration working with the entire team at Petsense," said Dougherty. "These individuals, from store associates and manager to the support staff in the corporate office, their dedication and passion make Petsense what it is - The place for pet lovers."
