U of Guelph Veterinary Program Gets $50,000 Financial Boost

Gift will help support a veterinarian specializing in exotic animals


On June 8, 2010 Rolf C. Hagen Inc., makers of Nutrience Pet Food, announced its commitment to provide $50,000 a year (for the next two years) to help support a veterinarian specializing in the care of small and exotic animals at the OVC Health Sciences Centre at the University of Guelph (OVC).

Procter & Gamble Voluntarily Recalls Canned Cat Food

CINCINNATI, June 9, 2010 – The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) (NYSE:PG) today announced a voluntary recall of specific lots of its Iams canned cat food in North America as a precautionary measure. Diagnostic testing indicated that the product may contain insufficient levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1), which is essential for cats. Cats that were fed these canned products as their only food are at greater risk for developing signs of thiamine deficiency.

May Registrations Up Sharply for PetLynx

PetLynx established a new high water mark in the month of May by registering 19,162 entities. Of these registrations 9,989 were pets and 9,173 were associates.

May was the first month in more than a year that generated more pet registrations than associate registrations. The registration of multiple pets by a single pet family is a new phenomenon which will bear observation in the coming months.

May registrations represented an increase of 132% over April 2010 and a 235% increase over the 5,706 entities registered in May 2009. In the first five months of 2010 PetLynx registered 38,918 entities which is 63% of the 61,055 entities registered during all 12 months of 2009 and an increase of 79% over the 21,675 entities registered during the same period in 2009.
