IAMS H4tH campaign set to feed more homeless animals than ever before

The Iams Home 4 the Holidays campaign is off to an incredible start with adoption and food donation numbers reaching record breaking highs. Since the campaign began 1 October 2012, more than 90,000 pets have been adopted and food donations are at more than 33,000. 

The campaign, which runs from 1 October 2012 to 2 January 2013 has been responsible for the adoption of more than 7 million pets. Iams proudly sponsors this drive with the donation of Iams dog and cat food to shelter partners. This year's food donation goal is 5 million. 

Each year, Iams and Helen Woodward Animal Center work to ensure that Iams H4tH is reaching people in new and unique ways to generate widespread awareness for pet homelessness. Iams H4tH and select Cub Foods stores in Minneapolis are hosting in-store events on October 28 and November 2 and 3 to help raise awareness of the importance of pet adoption. Neighbourhood shelters will introduce shoppers to deserving animals that are ready for adoption. 

"By working with Cub Foods we are able to reach a broader group of people who might find our information new as they come in to shop for their groceries," said Sheila Stephens, director of B.A.R.K (Being Advocates for Rescued K9's) animal shelter in St. Paul.

Home 4 the Holidays 2012 campaign recruiting shelters and rescue organizations

IAMS Home 4 the Holidays is looking for more organizations and shelters to become involved in the program, which runs from 1 October 2012 to 2 January 2013. The IH4TH campaign is one of the world's largest annual pet adoption drives with over 7 million pets adopted over the past 13 years. 

IAMS Home 4 the Holidays started in San Diego County in 1999. The Helen Woodward Animal Center spearheaded the effort with a mere 14 participating shelters and the support of IAMS. Today, over 4,000 pet adoption centres and rescue organizations from 15 countries around the world work together each year to rehome hundreds of thousands of animals. 

Since it began, IH4TH has seen a steady increase in pet adoptions with more than 4 million pet adoptions in the past four years alone. 

While the program focus is primarily on pet adoption, providing food to sheltered animals is a secondary goal. Indeed, in the past two years, IAMS has donated 10 million bowls of food to animal shelter and rescue partners through the program. 

Today, our partnership continues as we focus on getting more pets adopted and providing our animal shelter partners with IAMS food so dogs and cats awaiting their new home have the best nutrition possible.

IH4TH Program adopts 1.26 Million pets in 95 days

Iams brings good things to life! Animals, pet families and communities are all experiencing the good things Iams brings to companion animals. Here are some of the practical activities Iams supported in 2011.

Iams Home 4 the Holidays (IH4TH), one of the world's largest pet adoption programs, announced that 1,267,541 animals were adopted in the 95 days beginning 01 October 2011!  Since it began 13 years ago, Iams and founding partner Helen Woodward Animal Center, along with more than 4,000 animal organizations from around the globe, have helped 7,034,989 pets find forever homes.

   

Here's the skinny on 2011 IH4TH:

• Dogs win by a nose 651,224 
• Cat adoptions total 595,000
• Other pet adoptions (rabbits, reptiles, horses and birds) total 21,317
• 1,000 Cards for a cause were created and shared from the Iams Facebook page
• Iams donated 5 million meals to pets in need through Bags to Bowls program

The 2012 Iams Home 4 The Holidays (IH4TH) program will begin in October.

PetLynx programs featuring Iams in Canada during 2011 included:

• Assisted Canadian pet families with 42,323 automated recovery episodes. That's more help than all other recovery services combined.
• Co-sponsored the 2011 Year of the Cat program which registered 16,995 cats (almost seven thousand more than the pre-launch goal of 10,000) and recovered 22,489 Cats that previously faced an uncertain future.
• Iams kitten and puppy kits helped register more than 10,000 new pets at the point they entered their communities.
• Finally, Iams supported the development of the HomeSafe(tm) program which entered pre-market activities in Edmonton, Alberta during late 2011 and is expected to touch 93,000 pets in that community in the coming years.

Annual Pet Adoption Drive Reaches Milestone Number 

Iams Home 4 the Holidays, one of the world’s largest pet adoption programs, is thrilled to announce that it has reached the significant milestone of placing its 6 millionth homeless pet in a forever home. The landmark adoption comes in the program’s 13^th year as Iams again teams with founding partner Helen Woodward Animal Center, along with more than 3,500 animal organizations from across the globe to encourage pet adoption.

This year’s campaign goal is to find homes for 1.5 million pets and donate 5 million meals to animals at participating adoption and rescue centers (through the Bags 4 Bowls campaign). So far, for the 2012 campaign, more than 520,000 pets have been adopted, including 270,159 dogs and 241,640 cats.
