Iams DNA and Big Vision Serves Entire Industry
Some have wondered why North America's nutritional leader would seed and pay for a public recovery service that is available to every pet family, every pet organization, every veterinarian, every identification provider, every municipal pound, humane society, rescue agency and SPCA in Canada regardless of their affiliation with a nutritional provider. This unique DNA was invested in the Iams brand more than 60 years ago.
In 1946, Paul Iams, the driving force behind the Iams brand not only had a vision to make a better pet food, he was driven to think about how pets could live better, longer and how pet families could have an awesome pet experience.

The importance of microchips - Lessons learned from Katrina
Although it’s painful to contemplate what could have been worse in what the National Weather Service calls “the deadliest [tornado] since modern recordkeeping began in 1950,” there was one area lacking in which people could have prevented much heartache: microchips.
About 1,300 pets ended up in the Joplin Humane Society. The trick was reuniting them with their owners – a difficult task given that all but a handful of the pets did not have an ID tag or a microchip. Seen as an unnecessary expense by some people, a tiny microchip and its one-time cost could have saved a lot of worry and grief.

PetLynx registers 6,876 new entities in first 59 days of 2010
The business plan anticipated a 'many-to-one' ratio of 'associates' to 'animals' when designing the PetLynx model. At the end of February there were 16.5% more associates than animals registered in the PetLynx utility. Since associates are directly related to transactions either as pet families paying for services or as industry stakeholders providing services, management sees the ability to grow future revenues as being directly related to the number of associates registered in the PetLynx utility.
In July of 2009 the PetLynx V1 rate rose to 94% for the first time. At the end of February, PetLynx had automatically assisted 147,696 recovery episodes and for the first time in history achieved a V1 recovery rate of 100%. The V1 recovery rate is calculated as the cumulative number of recovery episodes divided by the cumulative number of animals registered on the system at the same moment in time.
With the highest V1 rate in the world PetLynx demonstrates the unique advantage its registration model has. PetLynx animals are registered for their entire lifetime with no additional cost unlike other services where the information chain breaks when fees to change records are refused.
These encouraging metrics provide evidence that PetLynx is the most effective and successful recovery service in the world today.

PetLynx Update
Here is a copy of their release for your review.
The Canadian Kennel Club, primary registry for purebred dogs in Canada and PetLynx Corporation, innovative, cutting-edge facility provider to the pet industry, are pleased to announce a new partnership undertaking. Under the terms of this agreement the Canadian Kennel Club will collaborate with PetLynx to expand services for all dogs in Canada through the PetLynx Subscription & Registry Services Unit. This national recovery service will be known as HomeSafeRDOG.
For all dog owners across Canada the blending of the PetLynx HomeSafe program and the Canadian Kennel Club National Responsible Dog Ownership Group (RDOG) initiative has created the largest single point access recovery service and owner support network in the country.
Pet families who register their dogs in the PetLynx HomeSafe Canada initiative using microchips, tattoos, licenses or other forms of identification will also have the opportunity to register for the CKC RDOG portion of the HomeSafe program. Responsible pet families will be directed to use PetLynx portals and CKC services to maintain their RDOG compliance. By using these programs, pet families can achieve complete compliance with National Codes of Conduct established by the members of the National Companion Animal Coalition. The two parties will collaborate to expand Responsible Dog Owner Programs at the community and provincial levels through their affiliates across Canada.
"Collaborating with CKC to add their RDOG program to the PetLynx HomeSafe Canada initiative will not only increase the number of responsible dog owners across Canada, but provide national stewardship and valuable resources to the entire value chain supporting these pet families," said Larry R. Evans, President & CEO of PetLynx Corporation. "By working together with the rest of the industry, I am confident that we will establish a new level of enjoyment and wellbeing for every dog in every community across Canada."
"We are very excited about the opportunity of expanding the RDOG program and our relationship with dog owners across Canada," said Joe Mauro, CEO of the Canadian Kennel Club. "The Canadian Kennel Club is an organization that has served the needs of dog breeders and owners in Canada for more than 120 years. Our breeders and breed clubs are the subject matter experts in our communities who can help Canada achieve a leading role worldwide in responsible dog ownership and industry compliance."

July Registrations & Recoveries at new levels
Automated recoveries in July came in at 4,683 which is up 22% from 3,832 in 2008 and up 131% from 2,021 in January 2009. Registrations in July came in at 6,606 which is up 27% from 5,197 in 2008 and up 84%from 3,588 in January 2009.
Another interesting metric is the relationship between recovery episodes and registrations, the V2 recovery rate. In 2008 there were 0.737 recoveries for each registration in July. In 2009 there were 0.709 recoveries for each registration during July. One interpretation of this trend is that there are more registrations coming from marketing programs than there are from the recovery services. As new point of market entry [POME] programs come into production one might expect this gap to widen. Essentially, we believe this means more animals are being registered based on the value proposition and reputation of the PetLynx Automated Recovery Service than are being registered because of an active recovery episode.
The PetLynx system automatically handled 124,093 recovery episodes to the end of July 2009, which provides a V1 recovery rate of 94%. PetLynx continues to lead the industry by a substantial margin in both the V1 and V2 metric and for this reason maintains a significant competitive advantage.
