Take Your Dog to Work Day launched in the U.S. in 1999 with 300 participating companies. By 2004, 10,000 companies nationwide were reported to participate in TYDTWD. The initiative was designed to celebrate the great companions dogs make and encourage adoptions from local shelters, rescue groups and humane societies.  

But as InfoStream recently reported, taking your dog to the office may bring health and social benefits to the workplace. Studies indicate lower stress levels, increased productivity and job satisfaction.

Earlier this week, Pets Plus Us Top Dog, Randy Valpy sat down with the Vancouver Sun to provide some Food for Thought when it comes to pet-friendly workplaces.
