A New York man has been sentenced to more than five years after admitting to running an investment scam related to a alleged service to return lost pets to their owners.
Fifty-four-year-old, Eric Stein, pleaded guilty to fraud charges in the scam in February. It is said that he has netted over $500,000 and involved dozens of consumers into the scam through a company called Return-A-Pet through false and misleading advertisements.
The Return-A-Pet service offered identification tags to be placed on pets that featured a 24-hour staffed toll-free number.
