Canada investing in pet food

An investment by the Harper Government will see increased product, competitiveness and jobs in the pet food industry.

Canada's Economic Action Plan is helping BHJ Canada Meat Products Inc., an Alberta meat processing company, expand their operations and increase sales by investing in the purchase and installation of new equipment and technology at their facility in Calgary.

BHJ is a processing company that supplies materials from various Alberta beef, pork and poultry producers to the pet food industry in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. The new equipment will expand the company's operations and increase domestic and export sales, helping to strengthen Canada's economy for the future.

"Our Government is helping Alberta meat processors become more profitable and competitive because the economy is our number one priority," said Deepak Obhrai, member of parliament, Calgary East.
