Professionalizing the Industry

PIJAC Canada offers continuing education and programs specifically designed to meet the needs of pet industry professionals, thus helping to professionalize and improve the industry as a whole.

PIJAC's online Certified Companion Animal Specialist Program (CCASP) was developed by veterinarians and pet industry experts to effectively train people who work with pets on a regular basis in the field of proper animal husbandry.

"Properly cared for pets is the number one priority, period," said Susan Dankert, communications coordinator for PIJAC Canada. "We offer these courses to educate people who work with pets on a daily basis about proper health care."

Affordable and convenient, this program has trained thousands of Canadian pet professionals in the field of proper pet care.

"Our education department has always been run on a break-even basis with the philosophy that it's more important to spread knowledge rather than make a profit," said Dankert. "The easier it is to access the programs, the more people can be educated and therefore pets will be better cared for."

The Industry would like to congratulate Sherry Wasdal, PIJAC Canada's newest fully Certified Companion Animal Specialist. A training and services coordinator for Petland Canada, Wasdal successfully completed all six animal care specialties in the CCASP.
