GOVERNMENT (Canada) - Tracking Government Promises

Tracking the campaign promises of politicians provides a fascinating view of post election government.

In Canada, a website called 'trudeaumetre' is providing an online view of promise keeping as well as a central place for comment about this important area. The site is currently tracking just over 180 promises and in the first 26 days of this government, shows only one broken promise. 

An earlier InfoStream article provided links to the mandate letters sent to each government department by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Between these two sites, Canadians seem to have a transparent view of their new Liberal government.

GOVERNMENT (Canada) - New Ministers Receive Mandate Letters

Canada's 23rd Prime Minister, the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau and his Cabinet were sworn in two weeks ago. 

As they started their new jobs, each new minister received a letter from the Prime Minister outlining the mandate and promises they are to keep with Canadians. The Mandate Letters are published for the world to see on the Prime Ministers web page. 

Ministers are responsible to for the various departments of the Government of Canada and sit on the Privy Council which is the highest elected position in Canada.

The great experiment in open and transparent government is underway.
