iAdopt 4 the Holidays

The Ontario SPCA launched its first annual holiday adoption campaign at the beginning of November which aims to educate the public about the importance of choosing pet adoption as their first option when brining home a new family member.

Ontario SPCA branches across the province are participating in the iAdopt 4 the Holidays campaign, which will run from 1 November to 31 December 2013. With more than 400 animals adopted in the first three weeks, OSPCA senior manager of Animal Welfare and Operations says the goal for this year is to adopt more animals than a similar campaign held in 2012 in which 1,280 animals found homes for the holidays.

In an OSPCA Animal's Voice podcast interview, senior manager of Animal Welfare and Operations Tonya Martin said that while the campaign is heavily weighted with Ontario SPCA branches, she hopes it will be come a cross-Canada movement.

"This is our first year, we definitely want to see it move every year and grow and grow," she said. "The more animals to get homed the better."
The iAdopt 4 the Holidays program will run every year from November 1 to December 31. By way of education and outreach, iAdopt 4 the Holidays encourages those considering a pet, to adopt from their local animal organization.

This campaign is open to SPCAs and humane societies across Canada.

IAMS H4tH Annual Drive Surpasses 8.3 Million Pet Adoptions In 14 Years

Nearly 1.3 million animals were adopted and 5.5 million meals donated to shelter partners during the 2012 IAMS Home 4 the Holidays campaign

More than 8.3 million pets have been placed in forever homes since Iams and founding partner Helen Woodward Animal Center, along with thousands of animal organizations across the globe partnered to do something about shelter overpopulation when the program first started in 1999.

The campaign ran from 1 October 2012 to 2 January 2013 and goals were met and surpassed in both the adoption and meal donation components.

"From the millions of families and pets who have been impacted over the years, to the more than 15.5 million bowls of food Iams has donated in the past three years alone, we're very proud of the work we've accomplished," said Ondrea Francy, Iams general manager.

OSPCA teams up with IAMS H4tH Campaign

For the fourth year, the Ontario SPCA has teamed up with thousands of animal organizations around the world to participate in the annual Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption campaign

Nearly 300,000 animals have been adopted since the campaign kicked off 1 October 2012 and participating organizations believe this year will break records.

"We are thrilled to be participating again this year," said Alison Cross, senior manager, Marketing and Communications with the OSPCA. "Each and every day the Ontario SPCA staff work very hard to find homes for orphaned animals. The Iams H4tH program is a great initiative that helps us find more of those forever homes. We are pleased to say that with the help of the Iams H4tH program in 2011, our OSPCA branches found homes for over 7,000 pets."

The OSPCA will participate  from 1 November 2012 to 2 January 2013.
